What causes Ghost to be “transgendered” into a female in “Ant-Man and the Wasp”?

It was male hacker in the comic, but the character Ghost was the producer of a villain into a villain in “Ant-Man and the Wasp.” The reason given is that they need a heroic counterpart to the father and son theme of the superhero.

One of the new characters that los movies Ant-Man and the Wasp introduces to the audience is Ghost, played by actress Hannah John-Kamen. With the ability to go through the wall, invisibility, hidden Ghost Ghost has now made our superheroes miserable. Especially the origin of Ghost in the comic version is a hacker rather than a beautiful girl like on the screen. Explaining this, director Peyton Reed said the crew had decided to build a villainous fictional theme for father and daughter in Ant-Man 2.

Later on we learn that Ghost’s real name is Ava Starr – the child who survived the quantum accident. Ava’s father has failed to try to create a quantum tunnel – technology that Hank Pym and Hope van Dyne are completing. The explosion caused Ava Starr’s body to continually reproduce and decay at a quantum level, and she had little time left to survive. Therefore, she made every effort to save her, even if they are negative alternatives that harm others.

All the above is different from the original Ghost in the comics. Although a newcomer to the Marvel universe (MCU), Ghost has been on the show for three decades. Instead of a heroic antagonist like Ava on the screen, the comic’s Ghost is a real villain, an enemy that does not share Heaven with Iron Man instead of Ant-Man and the Wasp. This character was created by David Michelinie and Bob Layton in 1987 in episode 219 of the Iron Man comic book The Ghost and the Machine. Ghost is a technology engineer who founded GhostTech, which owns computer chips capable of gathering huge amounts of data and becoming invisible. After his girlfriend was murdered, Ghost implanted GhostTech technology into his revenge. According to Reed, the story is boring and does not interfere with the spirit of Ant-Man and the Wasp.

In addition to making Ghost a woman, the filmmakers have given this character a story that fits the theme of father-daughter of Ant-Man and the Wasp. Ghost tragedy caused her to lose her biological father, Ava later found a place where Bill Foster (Laurence Fishburne), a caring and caring is no different than her father.

Meanwhile, Ant-Man 2 also devotes a considerable amount of time to portraying the affair between Scott Lang and Cassie, as well as Hank Pym and Hope. Hank Pym is a good father but also has to deal with his own problems: irritability, dishonesty, hard work. Scott Lang, do not have to say how much this mess is, even Cassie has to save his father once.

Director Peyton Reed also shared his interest in the idea that the sins committed by the father generation had come back to be the result of the girls’ suffering. Hank Pym and the Wasp faced the aftermath of the accident from the technology they were developing. Cassie must lie to the FBI agent to support Scott’s father. Ghost must find a way to save himself because of his father’s mistake. Anyway, they are fathers who always try to perfect, love and protect their children. Three pairs of father and son have taken over the wave and created strong emotional links for the audience.
